Without a Crutch (2) will be released as the first single from Alexis Taylor’s forthcoming album, Await Barbarians, on 16th June 2014. The accompanying video was directed by Ben Stockley at Herald St Gallery, watch it HERE.

Await Barbarians is a record whose warm tones draw you in, whose sequencing asks of the listener an uninterrupted session of close listening, and whose sound world reminds us of the pleasures of all that is quiet in music. It is rich in deep insight and profound feeling, a truly significant album by one of the country’s most continually arresting musicians.

Await Barbarians will be available on 16th June 2014 on CD (WIGCD334), standard LP (WIGLP334) and Digital (WIG334D). Copies of the LP purchased through Dom Mart or indie retailers will include a bonus 7” featuring the tracks I Hope (a Bobby Charles cover), b/w Song Of Long. Alexis Taylor will be performing live throughout the summer. Full dates with ticket links are below. Please note, the show at the Vortex in London has been moved to Monday 16th June

Here is a note from Alexis about his upcoming live dates:

I am starting out on a UK tour ahead of the June 16 release of my new album, Await Barbarians, via Domino. I will be playing shows backed by Zongamin and Grovesnor on bass, synths, guitar, drums and machines, and we begin at the Hay On Wye 'How The Light Gets In Festival' tonight, May 23rd, 10pm.

On Sunday May 25th we play a free show at London's Ace Hotel, with support from Fimber Bravo and Kadialy Kouyate and a dj set from Scritti Politti's Green Gartside. Then we're then in Glasgow playing before the wonderful King Creosote on May 31st.

Beyond that the dates look like this:

June 16 The Vortex, London (w/ very Special Secret Guests!)

June 17 The Art Bar, Oxford

June 18 The Brudenell, Leeds (support from Rozi Plain)

June 19 Band On The Wall, Manchester (again w/ Rozi Plain)

June 20 Roundhouse Studio – as part of CC14 (Camden Crawl), London

There will be shows in Europe and the US as well, to be announced shortly.

Special thanks to all of you who came out to the first show, at The Manhattan Inn, in New York. It was fun!

Hope to catch some of you at the upcoming performances.
