‘Fairlight’ is the new single from Eugene McGuinness and is available digitally from today, Monday August 5th. Following the release of The Invitation to the Voyage in August last year, this is the first material to be released since. Whether it’s a sign of things to come or not, we’ll have to wait and see.

‘Fairlight’ marks a departure from The Invitation to the Voyage and allows more of producer Dan Carey’s experimental recording techniques and psychedelic krautrock and post-rock influences to come through to the fore.  The result is a spacey, shimmering tower of sound with a swell of guitars, hypnotic, Arabian-inspired piano and a brilliant vocal performance from Eugene.

Emerging from an off-the-cuff writing session with his brother Dominic, Eugene explains his hopes for ‘Fairlight’:

“When I wrote this tune with my brother Dominic, I was kind of hoping it was going to come out at this time of the year. It's for the magic hour, another ‘come over here’ song. If it doesn't take you to one of Jupiter's moons then it's your own fault”

Equally keen to share the track were Domino, and the track is available from today as a download only (RUG551D).

Eugene McGuinness will be playing a free show at Birthdays in London on September 16th.
