Cass McCombs is a folk artist who tells the stories of his native land in a modern tongue. He has proved himself a brilliant lyricist, and a remarkably versatile and prolific songwriter with his newest album and second of 2011, Humor Risk (out next week on Domino), and WIT’S END, released this past April. Leading up to the November 7th release date, Humor Risk can be listened to in its entirety HERE.

After sharing Humor Risk’s “The Same Thing,” McCombs now gives a glimpse into the track’s visual component with footage shot entirely on super 8 and edited by frequent McCombs’ collaborator Albert Herter. As The FADER says, “If this video is to tell us anything, it’s that McCombs leads a hazy, itinerant life, like an endless and indiscernibly romantic B-roll... Transcendence or happenstance? Maybe they’re the same thing.”

Watch the video for The Same Thing below:

Robin Egg Blue is released as the first single on November 28th. Listen to the Gun Drum mix of the track featuring additional production by Rostam Batmanglij of Vampire Weekend HERE.
